Manaea's MLB no hitter not the first for pitcher with region high school background

Apr 23, 2018

Ah, the beauty of Facebook.

After Oakland A's pitcher/Andrean grad Sean Manaea threw his no hit masterpiece against Boston Saturday night, I asked my buddies, via Facebook, if Maneae was the first pitcher from Northwest Indiana to throw a major league baseball no hitter.

Three of my web buddies, Tom Bork, David Kerr, and Lewis Bagley answered the question and I'm a little shocked.  I didn't know that Don Larsen, the only hurler to throw a perfect game in a world series (October 6, 1956 in game five for the New York Yankees against Brooklyn), was from Michigan City.

So, to Tom, David, and Lewis, thanks for the info. To the Sean Manaea, yet another congragulations to you, this time for being named American League co-player of the week.
