It was Ernie Banks who uttered the now famous line 'let's play two today.'  Well, two region teams took that slogan one step further; they won two Saturday during the high school baseball state finals.

The Oilmen get a 'w' and it only took them 15 innings to do it.The Railcats were not so fortunate, though.

And you will hear from the young man who's job it is to pitch Andrean to another state high school baseball championship.  All of the above spoken here.

Andrean has a date with Silver Creek in the Class 3A prep baseball state title game, and after the season 59er pitcher Mike Doolin has had, is there any doubt as to who will start the biggest game of the season?

Northwest Indiana has had its share of high school state titles recently whether it be team wise (Chesterton gymnastics) or individual (Chesterton...again...and Portage in wrestling, Munster in girl's swimming).  Lake Central has a chance to give the area something we haven't gotten this year:  a national championship after winning the Roper Cup two weeks ago.

Last weekend, Portage wrestler's Jacob Moran (106 lbs.) and Kris Rumph (138) won individual state titles in Indianapolis. Listen up as Moran and Rumph tell their stories on life during and after winning a state title. Plus Indians coach Leroy Vega joins us to talk about coaching a state champion (s) for the first time in his career.

Today on Lakeshore Sports 219, we take a look at the Lake Station boys basketball win over Portage last night. Listen in during our post game interview with Eagles coach Bob Burke.

It's been just a little over a week since Morgan Township won the girl's basketball Porter County Tournament. This week's new challenge is winning their own sectional title.  To do so, the Cherokees must beat Gary 21st Century in the semifinals, then face a possible matchup with powerful Marquette Catholic in the sectional final.

In this Prep Sports Report interview from last week, MT coach Scott Adams talks about guard Kelsi Lemmons, the Queen Bee's, and other reasons why this has been a special season for Morgan Township.

Day two of the girl's high school hoops sectionals highlighted Wednesday sports.

Just in case you missed it, here is today's sports including last night's girl's prep basketball sectional scores (courtesy of the NWI Times).

A reminder that tomorrow we will have a report from the Hammond Noll sectionals including interviews with players and coaches.  That's tomorrow, so make sure to visit us again, OK?
