Today:  we asked noted Indiana economist, writer and speaker Morton Marcus back on the program for the latest from his "Eye on the Pie" columns published across the state.  Some of his remarks are timely, in dealing with natural disasters like from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and how much we should really depend on Uncle Sam for help in recovering from the storms. 

We bring you another in the series of comversations from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University --  this time it centers around the Gary community of Miller.

People who experience extreme weather events, such as droughts, hurricanes or tornadoes, aren’t highly more likely to support climate change change adaptation policies, according to a new study involving an Indiana University researcher.

While climate change does not cause extreme weather events, it can make them more intense, or happen more frequently.

CROWN POINT - The City of Crown Point is raising funds and collecting goods in support of Hurricane Harvey victims.  Diana Bosse,  Special Events Administrator for the City, says one hundred percent of funds and goods collected will be donated to the communities in and around Alvin, Texas.  

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Harvey is now Hurricane Harvey and is forecasting it will become a major hurricane to hit the middle Texas coastline.
