Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges

Tuesday: 7-8pm (repeats Friday - 11:00pm / Also a new program Friday afternoons from 12:00pm to 2:00pm

Longtime region radio and music scene icon Tom Lounges hosts this twice weekly program about music and the people who make it.   The talk/music format finds Lounges having interesting conversations with a wide variety of guest musicians, ranging from international legends to local talents on the rise.  Two new programs a week are produced -- a two hour edition on Friday afternoons (12:00-2:00pm Central) and an evening edition on Tuesdays at 7:00pm Central.  The Tuesday show repeats on Friday nights at 11:00pm

A few of the guests who have been interviewed over the five years that the program has been broadcasting on Lakeshore Public Radio include:  Paul Rodgers (Bad Company), Charlie Daniels, Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Ted Nugent, Rod Argent (The Zombies), The Moody Blues, The Ides of March, Jeff Daniels (actor/musician), Martina McBride, Ann Wilson (Heart), Wanda Jackson (Rockabilly Queen), Jimmy Fortune (The Statler Bros.), Elvin Bishop, David Sanborn, Mindi Abair, Richard Sterban & Joe Bonsall of The Oak Ridge Boys, Dennis DeYoung (ex-Styx), Engelbert Humperdink, Boz Scaggs, Dave Alvin (The Blasters), George Thorogood, Coco Montoya, Joe Bonamassa, and hundreds of others.

All genres of music is covered — rock, blues, jazz and country — on this twice weekly celebrity interview program that really spotlights an artist and their music.   There are sometimes non-musician celebrities who pop up on the show as well, among those have been author James Patterson, voice actor Phil Proctor (Firesign Theater), and various film and live theatre producers and actors.
