Northwest Indiana's favorite country girl -- JERICA PALIGA -- returns to "Midwest BEAT" to spotlight the new music from her newest album, "Better Than That,and to update Lakeshore's listeners on the progress her career has made since her debut appearance last year.   Joining her in studio to perform live acoustic tunes will be her band's guitarist JOE MIRABALLI.  Along with the live performances, some recorded tracks from "Better Than That,will also be featured.

The "Salute To The Sixties" concert that annually rocks Northwest Indiana celebrates its 30th Anniversary and this year, it's at a new location -- The Venue at The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.

The show's producer CHARLIE BLUM will be live in studio with program host Tom Lounges and the singers from each of the three '60s bands on the concert bill -- THE GRASS ROOTS, THE BUCKINGHAMS and THE HERMAN'S HERMITS featuring PETER NOONE -- will be calling in as musical selections from each of the respective groups are featured.

Regional rockers THE NOMAD PLANETS will guest in studio.  Members -- JOHN CARPENTER, MARK MYBECK and PHIL RAPCHAK --  will talk about their long career, play some acoustic tunes live on air, discuss songwriting, and spin some of their recordings for Lakeshore listeners.

Special Celebrity Co-Host: DON WILSON (Mellencougar)      

MELLENCOUGAR will perform at The Art Theatre on March 10th.  Lead vocalist/band leader and longtime Chicago radio personality DON WILSON joins long time friend Tom Lounges as the guest co-host for this week's edition of "Midwest BEAT."   Wilson will talk about the upcoming MELLENCOUGAR show, the band's history, and other rock 'n' roll topics.

Musical Guest:  ROBBY KRIEGER of THE DOORS

"THE DOORS: Live At The Isle of Wight" (Eagle Rock) a concert performance from August of 1970 is being released on DVD and this program will feature the group's iconic guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER

Originally filmed by MURREY LERNER during the band's performance at the 3rd Annual "Isle of Wight Festival," which was attended by over 600,000 fans, making it even bigger than Woodstock.  Robby will reflect on the show, working with Jim Morrison, some of the albums, moving on after Morrison's death and what he's up to today!

It's been a while since host Tom Lounges has spoken to Robby and the two will catch up fans on Robby's solo career, the new DOORS DVD, and lots of history and stories about Robby's experience as a founding member and lifetime member of The Doors.

The first half of the show features amazing vocalist BEKKA BRAMLETT and the second half features DANN ROGERS.  

Each of these amazing, if somewhat under the radar artists, will  chat about their respective careers, their famous family connections, and music from each of their catalogs will be featured.  Bramlett and Rogers recently collaborated on a new recording project and that will be discussed as well.

GUEST:  WOLFFGANG (Hobart High Vocal Ensemble) & DEAN WOLF

The gifted young female vocal ensemble -- WOLFFGANG -- from Hobart High School return for another evening of live performances in the Lakeshore Public Radio studio.  My listeners have noted they enjoy when the young ladies share their vocal skills on air with us.  Wolffgang  is an ever-evolving group founded many years ago and still directed by music educator DEAN WOLFF.    

WOLFFGANG in studio on "Midwest BEAT" has became an annual tradition in recent years, and this week's appearance marks their fourth visit in the last three years.

Northwest Indiana-based veteran rock quartet visit the Lakeshore studio to guest live on air -- performing tunes and playing new and classic recordings.    Show host TOM LOUNGES has a long history with ROCKEN HORSE and this show will find them catching up on things; reflecting on the band's early days in the '80s, their reformation, and how the new studio recordings and new songs are working out.   There's a new chapter for this venerable band of musical friends just starting.

THE BoDEANS  perform "stripped down" on MARCH 1st at Memorial Opera House and for this program, TOM LOUNGES will chat with the group's frontman/vocalist KURT NEUMAN to discuss the concert, the unplugged and plugged in sides of the band, some BoDEANS career history, and what's up next for the group.

The first portion of  this week's  program will feature an interview with  national health/inspirational speaker and book author ERIC O'GREY.  He will discuss his newly listed "Barnes & Noble Hot List" book, "Walking With Peety: The Dog Who Saved My Life" (Grand Central Publishing).   It's the story of how an overweight, unwanted rescue dog named PEETY helped O'Grey turn his life around; shedding over 150 pounds, curing his diabetes, freeing him from debilitating depression, and helping him to find love.   It's a journey that inspires and tugs the heart. 

The second half of the show will feature another special guest to be announced.

The region's top party rock group MR. FUNNYMAN will talk about their career and perhaps "name drop" some of the famous folks who have danced to their music over the last couple of years.

The group does a lot for the community and are the headline performers on SATURDAY, MARCH 10th at COUNTY LINE ORCHARD for the 2018 PET ROCK event produced by Tom Lounges Entertainment, LLC that benefits THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF NORTHWEST INDIANA.
