MUSICAL GUEST: TED NUGENT
This program is a spotlight on the music and career of the often controversial rocker, TED NUGENT.
The wild man with his Gibson Birdland guitar set to thrill -- returns to guest on "MIDWEST BEAT" once again -- this time to support of his concert of high energy and high decibel rock anthems at Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville, Indiana on July 20th.
Show host TOM LOUNGES has known TED NUGENT since the late 1970s when he first interviewed "The Nuge" as the editor of the monthly "NIGHT ROCK NEWS" music magazine of the greater Midwest area. Lounges also got to know and love MA NUGENT when the two of them both wrote for THE ILLINOIS ENTERTAINER.
This radio show is dedicated to all of Lounges' generation who came of age in the '70s and '80s while listening to the awesome licks and famous riffs of those great classic songs.
"Songs like 'Stranglehold', 'Free For All' , 'Snakeskin Cowboys' and 'Weekend Warriors' were part of the hard rockin' soundtrack to my wayward youth," said Lounges. "This program is not about politics, it's about the MUSIC! It's about the thrill of seeing a young Ted with The Amboy Dukes live at those old Dex Card-sponsored WILD GOOSE shows at the Sherwood Club, and the historic concerts at THE HAMMOND CIVIC CENTER."
The focus here is on Nugent's musical career and the many rock anthems he created over the years. Topics discussed on the program are -- the current tour, future recording plans, the longevity of some of the songs in his classic catalog, and Ted's tireless work on behalf of our American Veterans.
A lot of great tunes are played here as well -- from the Amboy Dukes-era, to Ted's recent team up with Sammy Hagar on his newest album, "Shut Up And Jam."
Enjoy plenty of vintage Nugent classics -- "Hibernation," "She's Gone," "Fred Bear" and others. One thing is for sure -- Ted Nugent is never a boring guest! Give a listen!
