KOUTS - People will once again remember victims and family and friends of those who have committed suicide during the Out of the Darkness Walk on Sunday, May 6th.

Cindy Perkins, who is a Middle School and High School Teacher at Kouts Middle High School and advisor for the school's Family Career and Community Leaders of America club says the FCCLA is organizing the walk at the school.  It will be held at the Kouts school track.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention created the walk.  Perkins says the FCCLA club she advises wanted to kick-off their club by doing community service projects, which is how it got involved in Out of the Darkness.

Perkins says water will be available at the event.  The FCCLA club invites everyone to walk and help promote mental health awareness. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has a survivor outreach program for family members who have lost someone to suicide.  More information can be found on the organization's website.
